Educational Efficiency

Some of the best education my kids experienced was in fourth grade. The teacher had a list of events that happened during a given period of time, say 1700 - 1750. The students would pick an event that they were interested in and do a report, a timeline, a project, and a presentation about the event. They had about a month to do the project, then presentations took some class time.

The results were fantastic. All could excell at one of the given tasks - some were great at the project, some excelled at writing, some loved the presentation part. And they learned from each other - they learned about other things happening around the world at the same time as the event they covered .
